Just a suggestion:
when a sprint is completed and let's say: some days old it should no longer appear in the sprint-selector.
maybe the selector can be extended with one click to see all sprints and then old sprints will be grey and new ones will look normal.
this could be done explicitly (close sprint) or implicitly (sprint is complete and "old")
